~Finding the balance between earthly delight and spiritual enlightenment~

About

Carnal Zen is my forum to explore all the ideas, contradictions, religions and credit card bills that pepper my life.

So far this week has resulted in 4 unfinished blog posts, 6 different “to-do” lists, and countless frenetic scattered thoughts. I overslept this morning, missed my yoga class. I stole Mate’s car because mine was on empty. I am hosting a MAJOR conference this week which will be attended by a number of heavy hitters and nothing feels like it’s starting to come together.

Ironically, one of my draft posts addressed the issue of focus - that you can’t get anywhere until you choose a direction. I can argue both for and against this position but I won’t bore you guys by talking out of both sides of my mouth…I can only confess to being a poor example this week.

Sometimes, all we can do is remember not to let perfection be the enemy of progress.  I’m fighting the little voice that says there is too much on my plate, that I lack the experience, the ability or the time to tackle the mountain of tasks before me.  Ok - deep breath, I’m going to pick ONE project and see if I can give it 20 minutes of undivided attention.

Courage doesn’t always roar.  Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying “I will try again tomorrow.”                                        -Mary Anne Radmacher
