~Finding the balance between earthly delight and spiritual enlightenment~

About

Carnal Zen is my forum to explore all the ideas, contradictions, religions and credit card bills that pepper my life.

Looking over recent entries, I talk a lot about spiritual awareness but one of the reasons this blog began was to find balance. The spiritual journey can take us so deeply into ourselves that we neglect the human experience. We focus on disciplines and practice self denial in silent apology for the abundance in our lives. Sometimes, we meditate so completely while washing the dishes we fail to notice the curtains are on fire. It’s important we don’t forget to behold the busy streets, the suffering in third world countries, and the cute UPS men…even though we haven’t the time to give them 100%.

Let’s see how we’re doing…test your awareness with the video below and comment your results.

  1. No, I didn’t see the bear. Funny though, I didn’t see it until I watched the segment looking for it 2nd time.

I relate to being in deep meditation while washing dishes. Actually, I completely relate to this entire post.

  2. Huh - Funny Tanya, reading your comment made me think about how we normally don’t see things we’re not looking for - and why that makes setting goals/intentions helps us manifest things we want…because we’re conciously looking for it. Thanks for stopping by!
